News: Arrow Geophysics are King of the Castle - for the day

As one of the most beautiful and magnificent castles in the UK if not the world, Arundel Castle has been in existence for 1000 years and not surprisingly the castle has yet to reveal all of its secrets. The role of English Heritage is to preserve our history and historic buildings but also to unlock historical secrets and interpret their meaning. Often this will mean a field full of highly skilled archaeologists painstakingly scraping away layers of soil and history until the secrets are teased out for all to see.

It’s an area of business Tim Archer, Managing Director of Arrow Geophysics is extremely fond of. Tim said, “To me, the revealing of history and other people’s lives from hundreds and thousands of years ago is a fascinating subject and we have always from the start of Arrow Geophysics worked with archaeologists helping them to maximise what are often scant staff resources by advising them where to dig.”

So a call from English Heritage for assistance in a geophysical survey was a welcome call to the Arrow Geophysics offices. Tim continued ” We undertook a Geophysical survey of some specific areas of the Arundel Castle site which assists the archaeologists to understand what is happening beneath the surface without the need for even a hole. We have worked with Archaeology South East and English Heritage before and our archaeological knowledge and experience means we can understand their needs quickly, which of course helps keep the budget down”.
